As a response to Covid-19, curbside service will be offered for library resources.


Students, faculty and staff can request library books, course reserves, and media, with the process outlined here. 

Requesting SMU Library Items

  1. Search for your item in the Library Catalog.
  2. Sign into your account using your MySMU credentials.
  3. Browse the search results and locate the item you would like to place a hold on. Click on the title of the item to see more detail.
  4. Under "Get It" click "Request."
  5. Click "Send Request."
  6. Your will see a green confirmation box when your request has been placed. You will receive an email when your request is ready, and then you can proceed to Step 2 to schedule a pick-up appointment.

Loan Periods

While curbside service is being provided, loan periods are extended:

•       Two-week loan items: 30 days
•       Seven-day loan items: 30 days
•       Three-day loan items: 14 days
•       Two-day loan items: 14 days
•       One-day loan items: 7 days
•       Two-hour loan items: 7 days

Loan periods will be adjusted manually upon check out.
